A scientific study will be conducted shortly to assess the efficiency of the COVID-19 vaccines used in Tunisia, Head of the Clinical Immunology Ward at the Pasteur Institute Malika Ben Ahmed said Thursday.
“This study will involve about 1 million Tunisians who have already been administered both doses, in a bid to assess the vaccines’ efficiency,” he pointed out to TAP, adding that Tunisia has used 5 different vaccines since the start of the national jab drive.
The COVID-19 vaccines, whatever the type of vaccine or its efficiency, minimises deaths and the risks of developing severe forms of the disease, calling on Tunisians to be massively vaccinated, especially after the delivery of large quantities of vaccines to Tunisia.
Given the spread of the new COVID-19 variant, the administration of a 3rd shot will be necessary, however, this operation is currently not feasible at present due to insufficient stock, Ben Ahmed indicated.
