Secondary education: “Administrative Committee decides resumption of classes” (Taboubi)

The Administrative Committee of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) has decided to resume classes on Tuesday and hand over marks to the administration and holding on the same day a meeting between the government and the general federation of secondary education while leaving its meeting open to monitor the progress of negotiations with the government.

This announcement was made by Secretary General of the UGTT, Noureddine Taboubi, at the end of the meeting of the Administrative Committee held Monday in Hammamet.

“The committee has reached this agreement which includes handing over marks to show that it is reaching out to negotiations while at the same time being concerned about meeting the legitimate demands of teachers,” he said.

He stressed that “the negotiations must be serious and crowned by an agreement acceptable within reasonable time, while warning that” procrastination can push the UGTT to declare regional and sectoral strikes to support the teachers.

Taboubi also announced the launch next Friday of wage negotiations in the public sector and the civil service.
