Sfax-COVID-19: Cases of Delta Variant detected, preventive measures from July 4, 2021

The governorate of Sfax has recorded 2 cases of infection by the Delta Variant, Regional Director of Health, Jawher Mokni, told TAP on Friday.

In this context, the regional committee for the fight against natural disasters in Sfax, meeting Friday at the headquarters of the governorate, announced preventive measures that will be applied from July 4, 2021.

Among the measures announced: the prohibition of tables and chairs in cafes and restaurants from 4 pm, the prohibition of consumption on the spot, and the limitation of the maximum capacity of reception to 30% in closed spaces and 50% in open spaces.

In the same context, the committee called for a ban on gatherings, demonstrations and ceremonies in addition to closing places of worship and weekly markets.

Three more deaths from the Coronavirus have been recorded in the governorate of Sfax during the last 24 hours, bringing to 1,231 the total number of deaths linked to the pandemic in the region.

Besides, 458 additional cases of infection were recorded during the same period, following the publication of the results of 1,475 laboratory tests, bringing the total number of positive cases detected since the beginning of the epidemic to 3,816, including 3,6201 recoveries, according to the latest report of the Regional Directorate of Health in Sfax.

According to the same source, 31 infected patients are currently in intensive care, 165 are admitted to the COVID-19 services of Hédi Chaker Hospital, while 35 other patients are hospitalised in private clinics in the region.
