Accra: Mrs. Shamima Muslim, the Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, has called on public servants to refrain from allowing political affiliations to interfere with their duties and responsibilities within public institutions. She emphasized the importance of loyalty to the state and institutions above personal political beliefs.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Muslim highlighted the necessity for public servants to maintain a non-partisan approach to their work. She stressed that once individuals enter public service, their primary allegiance should be to the state, not to any political faction. "You do not have to become saboteurs, or do your work lackadaisically because it is not your people who are in power," she remarked, urging a commitment to duty regardless of the prevailing political climate.

Mrs. Muslim delivered her comments at the 2025 PROs' Mid-Year Performance Assessment, an event organized by the Public Relations Coordinating Division of the Information Services Department (ISD). The gathering, themed 'Empowering Citizens Through Informed Communication,' aimed to bring together public relations officers from various governmental bodies to discuss effective communication strategies.

She also called upon the ISD to draw inspiration from its historic achievements and restore its prominence within the governance framework. Acknowledging the department's rich history and resilience, Mrs. Muslim encouraged participants to reflect on their roles and contributions to foster a renewed sense of purpose within the ISD.

Furthermore, she commended the ISD for its steadfast dedication, noting that its efforts significantly contribute to the success of government operations. She underscored the critical role of communication in governance, asserting its importance in ensuring an informed public that actively participates in nation-building efforts.

Reverend Mrs. Charlotte Hanson, Head of the Public Relations Coordinating Division of the ISD, echoed the sentiments of collaboration and innovation. She urged her colleagues to leverage both traditional and digital communication platforms to reach wider audiences. Mrs. Hanson also outlined upcoming initiatives aimed at enhancing ISD's services, such as capacity-building programs and an annual award scheme to recognize outstanding professionals in the field.
