Situation in Libya and means to develop bilateral relations focus of Jhinaoui’s talks with African counterparts

The situation in Libya, means to develop bilateral relations and the African Summit’s agenda were at heart of Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui’s talks with a number of his counterparts on the fringes of his participation in the 29th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union, July 3-4 in Addis-Ababa (Ethiopia).

During his meeting with Egyptian opposite number Sameh Chokri, Jhinaoui pointed out the need to carry on co-ordination between the two countries as part of the implementation of the tripartite initiative (Tunisia-Algeria-Egypt) regarding Libya and make every effort to incite the various Libyan protagonists to dialogue so as to reach a consensual solution to the Libyan crisis, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday in a press release.

Jhinaoui and Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Msahel also discussed the development of the situation in Libya, pointing out the need to implement the recommendations of the Tunisian, Algerian and Egyptian Foreign Ministers’ Meeting last May 5 in Algiers.

Emphasis was also laid on the need to carry on co-ordination between both countries on the Libyan filed and bolster bilateral co-operation prospects.

Besides, the FM had a set of talks with Togolese, Ethiopian, Kenyan and Rwandan counterparts Robert Dussey, Workeneh Gebeyehu, Amina Mohamed and Louise Mushikiwabo, respectively.

These talks mainly turned on means to foster co-operation relations between Tunisia and these countries and the forthcoming bilateral events.
