Situation in Libya at heart of meeting between Jhinaoui and Arab League Special Representative

The developments in Libya and efforts for a political and peaceful settlement to the Libyan crisis were at the heart of Thursday’s meeting in Tunis between Minister of Foreign Affairs Khemaies Jhinaoui and Special Representative of the Arab League Secretary-General in Libya Slaheddine Jemmali.

Quoted in a Ministry statement, Jhinaoui stressed the role played by the pan-Arab organisation to push the different Libyan actors to resume dialogue by referring to the conclusive results of the last consultations held in Tunis in October and November 2017, under the aegis of UN Special Envoy to Libya, Ghassen Salame.

Khemaies Jhinaoui also reaffirmed that Tunisia supports the UN roadmap for a comprehensive political settlement of the crisis in Libya.

For his part, Slaheddine Jemmali stressed the concern of the League to actively contribute to the rapprochement of views between the Libyan antagonists so as to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people for peace and stability, reads the same statement.
