Six arrested over Beja fire

Six people suspected of setting fire to the Djebel Diss (Nefza delegation) and Goubellat forests were arrested, Governor of Beja Houssine Hamdi said.

Five individuals suspected of setting fire to the Djebel Diss forests in Nefza have been identified and arrested on Monday by the National Guard’s Beja Research and Investigation Brigade, the same source noted, adding that three have been put into custody and two brought to justice.

Another man involved in the fire that destroyed 5 hectares in the Goubellat delegation had been arrested on Sunday.

Criminal investigations were initiated early august on the fires (about 40 fires) that have destroyed more than 150 hectares of forest area in Beja.
