SNJT and UGTT’s media union announce protests

The National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) and the General Media Union, under the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) have decided to stage in the coming days protests against the declining situation of public and confiscated media.

The starting date of these protests will be announced shortly, the unions said in a statement, after a meeting with representatives of the concerned media structures.

This decision was taken as the Presidency of the Republic and the Prime Ministry “continue to ignore the demands mentioned in several statements and correspondences,” the statement indicated.

Unions had warned against the aggravation of the situation in Dar Assabah, Shems FM, Snipe La Presse and Cactus Prod, which could lead to their closure.
