Social negotiations: gov’t proposals under debate at UGTT Administrative Committee meeting

Works of the Tunisian General Labour Union (French :UGTT) Administrative Committee meeting started Sunday in Hammamet, with attendance of SG Nourredine Tabboubi. The government’s proposals in connection to social negotiations took centre stage.

Tunisian and foreign journalists were not allowed to follow proceedings, TAP reporter said.

A round of negotiations was held Friday “without reaching any agreement due to the divergence of proposals between the two sides on all files,” said UGTT deputy S-G Slaheddine Selmi. The government tabled two proposals on wage rises that failed to meet the labour union’s expectations.
