Sousse hosts 2nd National Congress of Social Movements

Works of the 2nd National Congress of Social Movements kicked off on Friday in Sousse.

The three-day event is an opportunity to discuss current social problems and propose solutions, said Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) President Messaoud Romdhani.

Some 150 representatives of social movements including those from Morocco, are meeting, he specified, in workshops devoted to discussions on topics related to employment rights, health, development and healthy environment, in collaboration with lawyers and experts.

Participants in this congress agreed to lay the foundations of the national coordination of social movements, in addition to the implementation of a strategy of activism and communication for the support of social movements, Romdhani pointed out.

They are also discussing alternatives for the creation of new job opportunities and regional development and coordination between the social movements of vulnerable categories and those of social and national forces, the same source added.
