Sousse reported a 10% rise in the number of tourists in the period from March 1 to March 20, local tourism commissioner Taoufik Gaied told TAP. Figures showed a total of 45,737 visitors against 41,564 during the same period last year. The number of bednights followed suit, edging up 61.2% to 130, 058 against 80,702 last year.
. Tourist numbers from early January to March 20 posted an upward trend, going up to 152, 234 from 95,563 during the same period last year, Gaied further told TAP.
The number of bednights during this period edged up 123.8%, standing at 446,861 in comparison with 199, 674 during the same period in 2022.
The domestic market boasted the largest number of visitors in the holiday resort of El Kantaoui with some .81,759 tourists, up 7.5% on last year. The number of Algerian tourists likewise trended upwards, growing 1000% with 23,215 arrivals from early January to March 20.
