State under no obligation to pay 3 billion dinars to victims of dictatorship (Kilani)

The State is under no obligation to pay three billion dinars to victims of dictatorship contrary to what has been said untruly, President of the General Authority of Resistance fighters, Martyrs and Wounded of the Revolution and Terrorist Operations Abderrazak Kilani said on Tuesday.

“The State has to compensate victims of tyranny and dictatorship according to means available, as set out in Article n°11 of the law on transitional justice,” he told TAP.

“Nobody asked the State to pay this sum for victims of dictatorship, ” Kilani said. “What has been said about a deadline given to the government is baseless,” he added.

kilani also said reports according to which compensation for victims will be made through deductions from salaries of civil servants and public officials are unfounded

He said donations and funding related to arbitration rulings by the Truth and Dignity Commission will finance the Dignity Fund as spelled out in a relevant government decree.
