SUNYANI: The Sunyani Area Ladies Association of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has initiated an energy conservation awareness program aimed at market women in the Sunyani Municipality. This effort is part of their activities marking the 2024 Customer Service Celebration, emphasizing NEDCo's commitment to being a reliable power source. According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Irene Akyaa Yeboah Arthur, President of the Sunyani Area NEDCo Ladies, highlighted the importance of the sensitization program during a media briefing in Sunyani. She praised the market women for their participation and encouraged them to implement the knowledge gained to effect positive change in their households and businesses. She also urged them to assist NEDCo in curbing illegal power connections by reporting suspicious activities, which would help the company maintain efficient and high-quality electricity services. Mr. Michael Baena, a Senior Technician Engineer at NEDCo, voiced concerns about inadequate wiring systems, power misuse, and the use of outdated appliances, all of which contribute to high electricity consumption. He advised the public to adopt energy-saving devices and appliances and emphasized the importance of turning off electrical devices when not in use. Mr. Baena also encouraged market women to seek assistance from the NEDCo office whenever they encounter power-related issues. Nana Aboaa Boahemaa, President of the Sunyani Market Women Association, thanked the NEDCo Ladies for the enlightenment on energy conservation.
