Warsaw: A suspected military drone fell into a cornfield in eastern Poland early Wednesday and exploded, shattering the windows of nearby homes.

According to Anadolu Agency, the object, suspected to be a military drone, fell near a village approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) west of the Ukrainian border. The explosion resulted in broken windows for nearby houses but fortunately did not cause any injuries.

District Prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz stated, “At this stage, we are dealing with a military drone. The damage was most likely caused by explosives. A military expert is on the way to the site to confirm these circumstances.” He emphasized that the possibility of a civilian drone could be ruled out, but definitive conclusions would only be drawn after thorough examinations.

Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski highlighted the incident as “another violation of our airspace from the East,” reinforcing Poland’s commitment to defending its territory within NATO. Sikorski announced that the Foreign Ministry would lodge a protest against the responsible party on the US social media company X.
