Tabarka-Ain Draham: arrivals and overnight stays jump in 2017

The Tabarka-Ain Draham tourist area in the Jendouba governorate was marked in 2017 by a remarkable improvement of the tourist indicators in the number of the visitors as well in overnight stays, recorded in the hotels of the region.

Some 231,960 tourists visited Tabarka-Ain Draham tourist zone last year, up 5.46% compared to 2016 (158,317 tourists). This figure is the highest recorded in the region for more than 20 years, according to a report issued by the Regional Commissioner for Tourism.

Besides, overnight stays increased by 6.57%, reaching 481,049 in 2017 compared to 305,517 overnight stays in 2016.

Algerians and Tunisians topped the list of visitors to the Tabarka-Ain Draham tourist zone in 2017 with occupancy rates in the region’s tourism units of 95%, the report said.

The tourist area of Tabarka-Ain Draham has thirty hotel units with a total capacity of 6,218 beds.
