Tabboubi and Essebsi discuss need not to give up public properties

Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), Noureddine Tabboubi said Friday that emphasis was placed on the need not to give up public properties during his meeting this morning with President Beji Caid Essebsi.

In a statement to TAP on the sidelines of the 23rd Congress of the General Federation of Mines, Tabboubi said that the President of the Republic emphasised at this meeting that the transfer of public institutions is not the appropriate solution to get out of the crisis.

He has again indicated that his criticism of the government doest not target anyone, adding that his recent statements come after the dinar tumble which has led to the deterioration of purchasing power.

He also stressed the support of the central union to the campaign against corruption launched by the Prime Minister, adding that this campaign must target all parties.

According to UGTT Deputy General-Secretary, Bouali Mbarki, this 23rd congress is held in exceptional conditions given the crisis experienced by the phosphate company of Gafsa.

In this context, he called for the implementation of the agreement between the Government and the job-seeking sitinners in order to avoid any blockage of phosphate production.
