A delegation of the Socialist Party (PS) executive committee on Monday were received by Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Secretary General Noureddine Tabboubi.
The meeting focused on the country’s general situation and the UGTT’s role in building a democratic and social Republic, amid the big challenges facing the country and people, reads a PS press release.
The delegation pointed out on the occasion, the need for a collaboration between all social and republican forces to preserve the State’s gains and build Tunisia’s future in partnership with the national organisations and progressive parties.
According to the party, the situation the country is going through requires “a national dialogue involving the major organisations and national and progressive forces to agree on the changes to be brought to the political and electoral systems and to open up new perspectives for Tunisians through elected and democratic institutions.” These institutions, the party considers, will be in charge of improving the social situation of Tunisians and guaranteeing political stability.
The delegation included party Secretary General Moncef Chrigui and his two deputies Adel Aloui and Hanen Mahjoubi.
The UGTT Secretary General had recently several meetings with representatives of political parties, foreign diplomats, academics and lawyers, on the latest developments of the situation in the country after July 25, 2021.
