Tasting sessions of Tunisian olive oil scheduled for high-level Japanese tasters and importers

Tasting sessions of Tunisian olive oil will be held on Monday in Tunis for the benefit of high-level Japanese tasters, with attendance of a delegation of Japanese investors and media on visit to Tunisia from November 26-December 1.

Olive oil exports are expected to record a noteworthy increase, according to the Exports Promotion Centre (CEPEX).

The Japanese delegation led by Chairman of the Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan (OSAJ) Toshiya Toda, will take part in a one-day-information seminar on the marketing of the Tunisian olive oil in Japan, with attendance of Trade Minister Omar El Behi, CEPEX added in a press release.

The event organised in collaboration with the Technical Centre of Packing and Packaging (Packtec) and Tunisia’s Embassy in Tokyo, seeks to promote the Tunisian olive oil exports to non-traditional markets including Asian ones.

B2B meetings are scheduled between Tunisian exporting companies and Japanese importers.

Tunisia is today the world’s 2nd olive-oil producing country after Spain. This repositioning is due to the exceptional production recorded in the 2016-2017 season.
