Accra: Mr Courage Nunekpeku, the Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, has emphasized the company's commitment to reclaiming lands that were improperly allocated in past years. As part of this initiative, TDC is actively investigating land allocations and has already recovered some plots within its jurisdiction.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Nunekpeku briefed the media about the steps being taken to address these land allocation issues. He highlighted specific instances, such as lands along the Aflao road from TT Brothers towards Kpone, where improper allocations were identified and rectified. TDC's management has tasked its audit department to scrutinize these allocations thoroughly, aiming to recover lands involved in dubious transactions, some of which are complex. Nunekpeku mentioned that the company is collaborating with police and security agencies to recover lands allocated to nonexistent entities.

In a notable example, a land designated for a public toilet in Tema Community Five was reclaimed after it was allegedly sold to the wife of a former protocol officer. Nunekpeku recounted receiving complaints from residents about the sale, which led to an investigation revealing that the land was sold to Ian, the NPP Tema Central constituency secretary and a former protocol officer at TDC, for GHs2,000. He stressed that the contract was terminated after he engaged with the involved parties.

Further instances of misallocation include lands meant for nurses in Community 23 being given to non-nurses and open spaces being fenced and allocated to unidentified individuals in parts of Tema. Mr Nunekpeku urged prospective buyers to adhere strictly to the proper purchasing processes, which include obtaining an application, offer letter, site plan, and right of entry.
