A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 30-year-old man at Outjo in the Kunene Region on two occasions.

According to a crime report issued on Sunday by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), the alleged rape instances occurred in 2022 and 2023. The victim is now reportedly three months pregnant.

The case was opened after a teacher reported the matter to the police. The suspect has not yet been arrested.

In a separate incident, a trial-awaiting man was on Friday was found in possession of drugs with an estimated value of N.dollars 600 at Rehoboth in the Hardap Region.

The police said that at about 16h30, the suspect was searched after he was brought from the hospital, during which the drugs - five parcels of cannabis and one-and-a-half mandrax tablets - were found on him.

It is further alleged that, during the searching process, the inmate took a knife out of his pocket and tried to stab the officer, but was quickly overpowered and disarmed.

Police investigations in both matters continue.
