The Tunisian group Telnet and the Russian Space Agency will select, train and send a Female Tunisian astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS), under an agreement to be signed on August 13, 2021, on the occasion of the National Women’s Day, Telnet General Manager Mohamed Frikha announced.
A large Russian delegation is expected in Tunisia on August 13 for the signing of the agreement. It will be led by special representative of the Russian President for international cooperation in space Dmitry Rogozin.
Russian cosmonaut Sergey Konstantinovich Krikalyov, whose six spaceflights from 1988 to 2005 earned him the world record for most time in space, will also be among the members of the Russian delegation expected in Tunis.
Frikha called for exploiting this agreement and this project to promote the image of the country abroad.
Created in 1994, Telnet is a Tunisian group of companies specialising in innovation and high technology consulting. It launched on March 22, the first Tunisian satellite called “ChallengeOne” which aims to develop a new aerospace activity to become a provider of innovative solutions for the Internet of Things (IOT).
