Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur (world’s 23rd) has decided to sell the racket with which she reached the quarterfinal of Wimbledon championships, to contribute to the efforts made to combat the coronavirus in Tunisia.
Ons Jabeur said she is proud to contribute to and help the hospital institutions that are under great pressure.
She has set the starting price for the sale of her racket at 2 thousand dinars and pledged to mobilise another sum to acquire medical equipment for hospitals.
Jabeur has climbed one spot to 23rd in the WTA rankings released on Monday.
She qualified for the Wimbledon quarterfinal but lost to Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
