The Church of Pentecost Launches ‘Ministry to Okada Riders’ in Sogakope


Sogakope: The Church of Pentecost, Sogakope Area has unveiled its ‘Ministry to Okada Riders’ as an integral part of its Vision 2028 agenda, which aims to spread the gospel and ensure the well-being of motor riders in society.



According to Ghana News Agency, the launch event, which took place at the Sogakope Central auditorium, saw the participation of several dignitaries and stakeholders. Pastor Edward Brains Agidi-Quarshie, the Sogakope Area Head, emphasized the Ministry’s goal of providing fellowship opportunities and sharing the gospel with all riders, including commercial ‘okada’ operators. The initiative aims to encourage individuals to embrace Christianity, offering support through prayer, training sessions, and counseling to promote road safety and personal welfare.



Pastor Agidi-Quarshie urged church members to support the Ministry’s mission. Mrs. Victoria Dzeklo, the Municipal Chief Executive for South Tongu, acknowledged President John Dramani Mahama for supporting the ‘okada’ business and mentioned the government’s plans under the Big Push Agenda to improve road conditions in the area. Former MP Mensah Kobena Woyome, who attended the event, expressed his commitment to advancing the Church’s agenda for ‘okada’ riders, highlighting potential benefits for the youth.



Pastor Prosper Kpeli, the Sogakope Area Coordinator for the Ministry, stated that all 20 Church Districts in the area would participate in promoting the gospel through this initiative. The event was attended by motor riding union members and featured presentations from key stakeholders, including the DVLA, security services, and the National leadership of the Okada Riders Association of Ghana (ORAG).
