There is lack of communication between Foreign Ministry and Tunisians abroad (Secretary of State)

Secretary of State to the Foreign Minister in charge of immigration and Tunisians abroad Radhouane Ayara acknowledged on Saturday a certain lack of communication between his department and Tunisians living abroad.

“Indeed, members of the Tunisian community abroad are not sufficiently informed of their rights and the services offered to them,” Ayara explained in response to an oral question addressed to him by Ennahda Movement deputy Hassine Jaziri at a House of People’s Representatives (HPR) plenary session.

“The obstacles they encounter daily in their host countries and which require immediate action are overcome through the consulates and presidents of diplomatic delegations,” he said.

Regarding a question on the furtherance state of the national strategy for migration and care for the Tunisian Diaspora, the Secretary of State pointed out that some ministries are not associated in devising this strategy.

This, he said, prompted the supervisory authority to expand the consultation circle and to send a detailed report to all the ministries concerned, specifying that this report will be submitted to the Prime Ministry and the Commission of Tunisian affairs abroad.

Reacting to the Secretary of State’s response on the lack of communication between Tunisians abroad and the supervisory authority, Jaziri suggested reactivating the Face book page of the Secretariat of State for Immigration and of Tunisians abroad created in 2014 and the website “Portal of Tunisia.”

“This will further strengthen the bond between Tunisians abroad and their motherland, answer their questions and keep them informed of all the news,” he added.
