SEOUL: Three Ghanaian para athletes are currently in South Korea to participate in the LA28 Paralympic training programmes, scheduled to take place from November 5-13, 2024. The team comprises two para swimmers, Promise Aheto and Bryan Akoto, along with para-badminton player Judith Adu, and is accompanied by Michael Obeng, who is serving as the media officer.
According to Ghana News Agency, the training programme is sponsored by the National Paralympic Committee of South Korea in collaboration with the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana. The initiative aims to enhance the development and capabilities of the athletes through various programmes, including a sports academy offering activities in para-badminton, swimming, and taekwondo.
In addition to athletic training, the programme provides an opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in Korean culture and engage in networking activities. The South Korean National Paralympic Committee is covering all expenses related to the trip and associated ac
tivities.
This initiative follows a precedent set in 2022, when two athletes and one official from the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana benefited from a similar programme in preparation for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
