The Minister of Women, Family, Children and Senior Citizens, Amel Bel Haj Moussa, on Monday, announced the creation in the next period of three women shelters in the governorates of Bizerte, Kef and Tunis.
She also said centre will be created in each governorate, according to the 2023-2025 development plan.
At a working session held on Monday with a group composed of representatives of international partners in gender, the Minister reminded of the “Samida” programme launched on March 7.
This programme aims to strengthen the economic empowerment of women victims of violence and their integration into the labour market.
The creation of this programme comes amid an increase in the number of women victims of violence, according to the reports recorded on toll-free number 1899, i.e. 8,332 alerts recorded in 2022, said the Minister.
