The Djerba-Zarzis tourist region showed a clear growth in all the tourist indicators in 2022 compared to 2021, with a 105% increase in visitors and 167% in overnight stays.

The number of visitors reached 16.280 thousand and of overnights 5.149 million, Local Tourism Delegate in Medenine Hichem Mahwachi told TAP.

The domestic market comes 1st in terms of the number of visitors with 327 thousands, followed by the French market (211 thousands) and the Libyan market (ranks 3rd), the same source added.

During the 2022 year-end festivities, the Djerba-Zarzis tourist region accommodated 11 thousand 500 tourists, thus exceeding the number recorded during the same night of the reference year 2019.

For the first time, the number of tourists rose to 54 thousand in November 2022, up 14% compared to the same month in 2019.
