Tourist bookings to Tunisia grow 14% compared to 2019 (TUI Group) [Upd 1]

A good level of tourist bookings in Tunisia was seen last year, said CEO of TUI Group Sebastian Ebel as het met Thursday with Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Mohamed Moez Belhassin on the sidelines of ITB Berlin 2023 (March 7- 9).

This upward trend was confirmed till the end of February as sales edged up 14% in comparison with 2019. The Group is keen to increase the pace of sales in the coming period, Ebel further said.

Belhassin and Ebel discussed ways to enhance TUI’s contribution to boosting tourist arrivals from Germany and other European countries, the ministry said.

TUI Group is one of the world’s leading tourism businesses with 1,600 travel agencies and 6 airlines with around 150 aircraft.

The minister urged the travel company to support the Tunisia destination by means of stepping up promotion, increasing investment and marketing off-season travel to various regions across the country.

He also had talks with a number of managers of German and European tour operators and travel agencies, mainly President of the German Travel Association (DRV) Norbert Fiebig and President of Quality Travel Alliance Thomas Bösl.

The official urged tour operators to organise tourist trips in Tunisia’s northern and southern regions to diversify their product and increase the number of tourists.
