Towards elaboration of unified Arab water strategy (Samir Taieb)

Minister of Agriculture Samir Taieb called on Monday in Beja to develop a unified Arab water strategy.

Speaking at the opening of the Arab food and water Security Summit, held in the city of Beja at the initiative of the Arab League Centre in Tunis, in cooperation with the governorate of Beja, the regional commissioner for agriculture and the International Council of Women Entrepreneurs in Beja and Jendouba, the minister said that Tunisia suffers from a water deficit but managed to set up a water management system. At this level, he has denied the use of the country’s strategic water reserves.

Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League and President of the Arab League Centre in Tunis stressed that the choice of the city of Beja to host the work of this summit is part of the achievement of the policy of decentralisation of the league, taking into account the position of this governorate which shelters a considerable water reserve, supplying all the regions of the republic.
