Towards implementation of projects agreed with Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination

The Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA) is ready to speed up the pace of implementation of the projects agreed with Tunisia and to commission the specialised technical teams to complete the studies with the Tunisian parties concerned as soon as possible, underlined the coordinator of the said Tunis office, Mohsen Balgi.

These projects include the Greater Tunis Mother and Child Hospital Project and the project to maintain and renovate historic mosques, the Ministry of Development, Investment and International Cooperation said in a statement released Wednesday.

Balgi emphasised, when meeting Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation Zied Laadhari, the proposal of the Agency to study new projects and to work towards realizing them.

Both sides also reviewed the cooperation between Tunisia and the Agency and its programmes for the next period.

The Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination opened a permanent office in Tunis in 2013, in accordance with an agreement reached between the two governments in 2012 aimed at strengthening economic and social cooperation as well as as for development, exchange of experience between official institutions and associations, in addition to the private sector.

The volume of financial support presented by the Agency as donations, in the form of equipment in the field of security, agriculture, equipment, public works and others has, since 2012, nearly $ 52 million.

The Agency has also helped to create more than 100 small projects as part of the creation of new employment opportunities, particularly in rural areas.
