The “Tourism Up” programme, dedicated to over 200 professionals working in hotel units in the governorates of Tozeur and Kebili, will start in mid-July, the project team said at a press briefing in Tozeur.
Funded by the US Embassy in Tunisia, the 18-month “Tourism Up” programme will be supervised by l’association Médias Animation Jeunes (AMAJ), said Project Director Wassim Ben Moussa.
Tourism Up seeks to involve various tourism stakeholders in a bid to improve the quality of services so as to meet the needs of domestic and national and international customers.
The first phase of the project will include four tourist accommodation units in Tozeur and Kebili.
It offers training and targeted activities meant to improve the quality of hotel services, Ben Moussa said, adding that the quality of hotel services has declined over the past decade.
The second phase focuses on the training of trainers (TOT), particularly among hotel units managers. By the end of the training, a guide of tourist services benefiting hotel units in Kebili and Tozeur will be published.
An online platform dedicated to the project will be launched next January 2022 to promote tourist events, cultural and sporting activities held in the two governorates.
