Trade balance deficit at constant prices widens to -11,974.3 MD

Tunisia’s trade balance deficit at constant prices widened during the first 9 months of 2021, reaching -11,974.3 million dinars (MD) against -10,136.5 MD during the same period last year, according to a note on foreign trade at current prices (September 2021) published Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (French: INS)

This is the result of exports and imports rising 22% and 21%, respectively. The coverage rate gained 0.6 points compared to the same period last year, standing at 73.7%.

Exports rose 22% in the first nine months of 2021 against a 16.6% drop during the same period in 2020, with a value of 33,607.5 MD against 27,537 MD in 2020.

Likewise, imports grew 21% compared to a 21.3% drop in 2020, totalling 45,581.8 MD against 37,673.4 MD in 2020.
