The trade deficit worsened at the end of June 2021, to 7,536.5 million dinars (MD) against 6,602.8 MD during the same period last year, according to a note on “Foreign trade at current prices in May 2021,” released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The coverage rate improved from 73.4% in June 2020 to 75.2% in June 2021.
During the first half of 2021, exports recorded an increase of 25.5% against a decrease of 20.6% during the first half of 2020.
They stood at 2,2825.6 MD against 18192.7 MD during the same period in 2020.
The same goes for imports which posted a 22.4% rise against a 24.2% drop during the first half of last year. In value, imports were up to 3,036.2 MD against 24,795.6 MD during the same period last year.
