Sunyani: The National Union of Tricycle Operators Ghana (NUTOG) has offered its condolences to the family of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her death as a significant loss to the nation. The union acknowledged her contributions to social justice, women’s empowerment, and children’s welfare.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement signed by Mr. Emmanuel Kwao Arku, the National Public Relations Officer of NUTOG, expressed sorrow upon receiving the news of the former first lady’s death. The statement highlighted Madam Agyeman-Rawlings’ dedication to women’s and children’s development through initiatives like the 31st December Women’s Movement, which facilitated women’s participation in various aspects of life.
The statement, made available to the Ghana News Agency, described Nana Agyemang-Rawlings as a woman whose qualities of grace, humility, and compassion, along with her non-partisan attitude and unifying spirit, earned her widespread admiration. It emphasized that her legacy should inspire the nation to embrace values of service, leadership, and commitment to humanity.
The statement also noted her indelible contributions to national development, particularly in promoting women’s welfare. It urged NUTOG members and all tricycle operators to adhere to road safety and ethical conduct, maintaining professionalism as they play a crucial role in the transport system. It emphasized the importance of reflecting the care President John Dramani Mahama has shown towards them.
