Ankara: Trkiye's consumer confidence index reached its highest level in May since March 2025, registering at 85.8, according to TurkStat figures released on Monday. This marks a slight increase from April's index of 85.5, showcasing a positive trend in consumer sentiment.
According to Anadolu Agency, three sub-indexes showed growth in May on a monthly basis. However, the financial situation of households at present was the only sub-index to experience a decline, dropping by 3.5%. The assessment of spending money on durable goods over the next 12 months saw a minor improvement of 0.04%, while the financial situation expectation of households over the next 12 months rose by 0.5%. Additionally, the general economic situation expectation over the next 12 months increased significantly by 3.9%.
The consumer confidence index is a crucial indicator of economic sentiment, reflecting households' perspectives on their financial conditions, the overall economy, and their spending intentions.
