Kadjebi: Authorities at Tsortorme D/A Primary School in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region have called on the Kadjebi District Assembly and charitable organizations to assist in constructing a modern six-unit classroom block to improve educational conditions. The current facilities, made of bamboo and in a state of disrepair, have necessitated pairing classes, impacting the quality of education for the 122 pupils from Kindergarten to Primary Six. According to Ghana News Agency, the school's head teacher, Mr. Daniel Dodzi Tsivanyo, highlighted the pressing need for adequate classrooms during a visit to the school. "The lack of classrooms is my main challenge," Mr. Tsivanyo stated, noting how combined classes hinder student progress. He urged the district assembly and non-governmental organizations to provide assistance for new classroom blocks. Mr. Tsivanyo also raised concerns about the poor road conditions leading to the school, which become impassable during the rainy season, complicating travel for t eachers from nearby communities. He recounted a personal accident caused by these conditions and appealed for improvements to the road from Obuase to Tsortorme to ensure community access. Torgbui James Akpolu, the Headman of Tsortorme, echoed the need for infrastructure, citing the impact of the poor road network on the local economy. He mentioned that the inability to transport foodstuffs to market leads to significant post-harvest losses. Mr. Akpolu also highlighted the lack of essential social amenities such as clean water, electricity, and adequate school facilities, questioning the community's inclusion in national development efforts. In response, Mr. Wilson Kwami Agbanyo, Kadjebi District Chief Executive, informed the Ghana News Agency that the road issues would be addressed under the District Roads Infrastructure Project (DRIP), with work already underway on some roads within the district.
