Tunis, capital of Arab athletics July 15-17

Tunis will play host to the 20th edition of the Arab athletics championship July 15-17, with the participation of 3,115 athletes from 16 countries: Algeria, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Libya, Lebanon, Iraq, Sudan, Djibouti and Tunisia.

Fethi Hachicha, President of the Tunisian Athletics Federation (FTA) said at a press conference Wednesday that the federation which has the great honour to organise this important regional competition, has put into all the human and material resources to ensure the success of this championship.

Taking the floor, Arab Athletics Federation President Abdallah Ben Ahmed Saloui pointed out that “Tunisia has been and will always be at the forefront in the organisation of the various competitions of the Arab Athletics Federation and this thanks to the support enjoyed by sports in general and Tunisian athletics in particular.

FTA national technical director Hamadi Said underlined that the main objective of the national team is to win a record number of medals, announcing the participation of athlete Habiba Gheribi in the 1500m and 300m steeplechase, along with Hassanine Sebai and Chahinaz Mbarki (20 km walk), Wissem Hosni (half-marathon) and other young talents such as Fares Jelassi and Maroua Bouzaiane.
