Tunis Stock Exchange Sees Modest Decline in Tunindex in October 2023

The Tunis Stock Exchange reported a slight decrease in its Tunindex index for October 2023, ending the month at 8,395.28 points. This represents a 0.75% decline, following a more significant drop of 5.38% in September, as detailed in the monthly analysis by Tunisie Valeurs, a Tunis Stock market broker.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, the Tunindex's cumulative gains since the beginning of 2023 have dwindled to 3.52%, a notable contrast to the 16.70% gain recorded during the same period in 2022. The trading volume on the Stock Exchange List for the Tunidex index reached 75.1 MD, marking a 21.7% decrease compared to the previous month. The average daily trading volume was reported at 3.4 MD in October, a decrease from 4.8 MD in September and down from an average of 7.5 MD throughout 2023.

The report further indicates a general downtrend in the prices of listed securities, with 26 values showing an increase and 48 experiencing a decrease.

Additionally, the Tunindex20, which tracks the top 20 listed companies, recorded a decrease of 0.61% in October 2023, closing at 3,674.37 points. This follows a drop of 6.47% in the previous month. Since the beginning of 2023, the Tunindex20 has seen an overall increase of 2.29%, compared to a much larger increase of 20.35% during the same period in 2022.
