Tunisair: Measures as of Monday for aircraft maintenance and safety

Practical and coordinating measures will be taken early next week to put an end to infringements that could hamper the progress of aircraft clean-up and maintenance operations and threaten their safety, Tunisair CEO Ilyes Mnekbi said, according to a statement released by the national carrier on Sunday.

Tunisair’s CEO, who visited Tunis Carthage International Airport on Saturday night, called for more efforts to improve the quality of services and avoid gaps in services as soon as possible.

This visit is part of the follow-up to the arrangements made at the meeting of the committee responsible for managing flight schedules on Thursday 20 July 2017, which was devoted to the examination of the aircraft cleanliness and maintenance and baggage handling equipment.

Mnekbi highlighted on this occasion the will to present high-quality services and to guarantee adequate travel conditions for the national carrier’s passengers.

He also called on all parties concerned to overcome shortcomings in the shortest possible time, notably those relating to aircraft cleanliness and organisation, in addition to human and logistical resources (quality and quantity).

The official also recommended protecting aircraft that land intruders and regulating the procedures for accessing them.

During his visit, Mnekbi enquired about the problems of Tunisair staff, including Tunisair Technics and Tunisair Handling, who expressed their willingness to participate in efforts to overcome the shortcomings.

They also reviewed the conditions and difficulties hampering their work in order to ensure the necessary productivity and efficiency.
