Tunisia Calls for Respect of State Sovereignty at Arab League Meeting

Tunis: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ali Nafti renewed Tunisia's call for the respect of states' sovereignty and territorial integrity and condemned any attack on Arab countries or violation of their territorial sanctity. He made the remarks while taking part remotely on Sunday in the emergency meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, Nafti highlighted the delicate situation facing the Arab nation amid ongoing military escalation in the region, which poses a serious threat to regional and international peace and security. He reiterated Tunisia's firm rejection of any targeting of the lands and resources of Arab countries. Nafti expressed Tunisia's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Republic of Iraq.

Nafti further called for an immediate halt to military operations, urging the primacy of wisdom and reason and advocating for a return to dialogue and negotiation as the only way to resolve disputes. He stressed the urgent need for the international community to intervene and stop this dangerous escalation.

Additionally, Nafti emphasized that true security and stability in the region cannot be achieved unless the Palestinian people reclaim their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent, sovereign state on the entire land of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He also expressed Tunisia's full solidarity with the Republic of Lebanon in the face of attacks and violations affecting its sovereignty, security, and stability, underscoring the importance of upholding the principles of brotherhood and good neighborliness among Islamic countries, in accordance with international and humanitarian law charters and the foundational principles of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
