Tunisia-China: Towards diversification of partnership between Tunisian and Chinese enterprises

The leaders of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) pointed out during the 1st meeting of the Tunisian-Chinese Business Council held on Friday in Beijing, willingness to further diversify co-operation and partnership opportunities for Chinese and Tunisian enterprises to expand to new high-added-value sectors.

According to a press release by the Tunisian Embassy in Beijing, the meeting is part of a memorandum of understanding signed in 2014 between the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) and the CCPIT.

The two sides agreed to foster relations, increase delegation visits and to hold the business council’s meetings periodically.

The meeting brought together Tunisian and Chinese enterprises operating in agro-food, ICTs, textile, chemical industry and engineering, packaging, financial services, banking and consulting sectors as well as infrastructure.

The meeting offered the occasion to review the investment climate in Tunisia and the reforms enshrined in the new law on investment.

The Tunisian Embassy in Beijing organised in co-operation with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (one of the largest Chinese public bank) and the China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Foodstuffs, a business forum and meetings between the Tunisian delegation and companies from the provinces of Zhejiang and Hunan which have significant economic weight in China and working for greater openness on abroad, including Arab and African countries.
