Tunisia condemns terrorist attacks on Egyptian army in North Sinai

Tunisia firmly condemned Friday the twin terrorist attacks that targeted positions of the Egyptian Army in North Sinai killing and injuring several servicemen.

According to a Foreign Ministry press stetement, Tunisia expressed its support to the Egyptian government against these cowardly and repeated terrorist acts aiming to undermine stability and security of the Egyptian people.

The Tunisian State further offered its deep condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

In light of the serious consequences of the rise of terrorism and extremism on the security and stability of states, Tunisia reiterated its call to the international community to strengthen co-ordination in terms of fight against this scourge and to root it out.

According to the Egyptian army, 26 servicemen were killed and several injured when a group of over 40 armed men attacked on Friday positions of Egyptian military deployments in North Sinai where members of the Daesh organisation operate.
