TUNIS, Sept 15- Eight terrorists who were spotting targets for attacks (sites to be attacked and persons to kill) were arrested in Sidi Bouzid, the Ministry of the Interior said.
According to a ministry press release,” these suspects are also charged with material and logistic support, transport of arms and storage of explosives for the terrorist groups holed up in the mountains,” adding that they are directly tied to the so called terrorist “Lukman Abu Sakhr.”
During this operation, security forces seized one tonne of ammonium nitrate, an off-road vehicle, two cars, two computers, mobile phones, hunting rifles, cartridges calibre 16mm and electric batteries, added the release.
They also seized two military uniforms, binoculars, an electric oven, two 3G USB keys, medical care products, a kimono and a black flag of Jihad.
“The arrested terrorists were brought before the Public Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Tunis,” according to the press release of the Interior Ministry.
Meanwhile, spokesman for the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant-Colonel Belhassen Oueslati denied any terrorist attack on the military barracks in Kasserine.
“Information reported by some media on a terrorist attack on the military barracks in Kasserine are baseless,” he told TAP.
However, Oueslati said that the National Army had launched on Friday night a military operation over the heights of Chaambi and Semama, adding that the shelling caused a big bang heard by the local inhabitants.
