Tunisia-EU roadmap to be published soon (Hahn)

European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, on Wednesday, stressed the European Union (EU)’s commitment to further supporting Tunisia to achieve further investment and progress.

“The European Union is committed to supporting Tunisia,” he indicated, noting that it has, since 2011, provided more than Euros 2 billion in grants and over Euros 7 billion in loans, i.e. almost altogether Euros 10 billion.

Speaking at a meeting with Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, Hahn added that the EU and Tunisia have agreed on a roadmap that will be published soon.

Its objective is to support Tunisia to face the difficulties encountered in the implementation of the planned reforms and also the achievement of the development objectives.

The European Commissioner also said the private sector in Tunisia is a very dynamic sector which is trying to draw on the favourable geographical positioning of the country between the two continents: Africa and Europe.
