“Tunisia has to help itself and rely on its own resources before asking for any foreign aid”, says Ghannouchi

“Tunisia has to help itself and rely on its own resources before asking for any foreign aid,” President of Ennahdha Movement Rached Ghannouchi said on Sunday.

Speaking at his party’s extraordinary regional congress in Beja, he added that there is little enthusiasm for work and payment of taxes in Tunisia today.

On another hand, Ghannouchi said Tunisia’s inclusion in the list of third countries at high risk of money laundering and terrorist financing is mainly due to the delay in forwarding the files to the parties concerned within the time limits.

In addition, the president of the Ennahdha Movement said that the organisation of this extraordinary congress to choose a new regional secretary-general instead of appointing an acting secretary general reaffirms the Movement’s commitment to democracy.

Three candidates are running for the post of regional secretary general of the party in BejA. They are Mohamed Salah BoualAgui, Mongi LaAbidi and Hatem Massoudi.
