Tunisia hosts annual meetings of Islamic Development Bank in 2018

Tunisia will host the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to be held in 2018. In this connection, the start of preparations for this event and the coordination between the concerned parties constituted the reasons for the visit to Tunisia of the IBD Secretary- General Ghassan El-Baba, according to a statement of the Ministry of Development, Investment and International Cooperation.

During his meeting with Fadhel Abdelkefi, Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation, El-Baba stressed the importance of these assemblies, which will host 1,000 participants from 57 countries, as well as regional and international financial institutions and authorities and the Bank’s executives, in addition to the Tunisian participants.

He also emphasised the importance of the logistical and organisational preparations required by this event, considering that “Tunisia, which has a wide experience and capacity to organise such events, is able to guarantee the success and the smooth running of these assemblies “.

The meeting also focused on the annual IDB assemblies for 2017, to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, during which Tunisia will take over the presidency of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank.
