Tunisia hosts, on October 5-6, 2017, les Rencontres Africa 2017

“Tunisia will host on October 5 and 6, 2017, les Rencontres Africa 2017, an economic event that fosters economic relations with both France and Africa,” said Marc Hoffmeister, general commissioner of les Rencontres Africa.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Tunis, Hoffmeister added that the objective of this event is to propose meetings between African and French companies to better know each other, encourage exchanges, multiply partnerships and conditions of accelerated growth and creating jobs.

Organised under the high sponsorship of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs with the support of the French Ministry of Economy and supported by the Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, the les Rencontres Africa 2017 aim to create new business opportunities between Tunisian, French and African economic operators

About 400 Tunisian companies and nearly 400 foreign companies (200 French and 200 African) will take part in this event.

Seven sectoral themes and 15 conferences corresponding to the stakes of Tunisian and French companies as well as the interest of African economic players are topping the agenda of these meetings.

Tunisian entrepreneurs will benefit from networking and exchanges between business leaders, local authorities and influencers of the economic and political world in Africa.

During this second edition, Les Rencontres Africa 2017 will be organised in three regional events in Abidjan, Nairobi and Tunis during a 5-day tour, from 2 to 6 October 2017. French business leaders will be encouraged to travel together to take part in the first stage in Abidjan (October 2-3, 2017) then will choose Tunis (October 5-6, 2017) or Nairobi (October 5-6, 2017) according to the stakes of their industrial and commercial strategy.

Hoffmeister recalled that during their first edition, launched in 2016 in Paris, “Les Rencontres Africa” was a success with the participation of nearly 2,700 companies present, 3,730 business meetings over two days, ten conferences and about 20 workshops, but also many effective contract signings.

Zied Ladhari, Minister of Industry and Trade said that “Les Rencontres Africa 2017” event offers an opportunity for Tunisian companies to develop and strengthen cooperation between French and African companies.

Olivier Poivre d’Arvor, Ambassador of France in Tunis, stressed that this event is an opportunity for French operators to form alliances with Tunisia to work together in Africa.

A partnership agreement was signed on this occasion between the organisers of the “Rencontres Africa 2017” and Tunisair. Under this agreement, the national carrier will pledge with the organisers by optimising its fleet to allow all business owners to travel at the same time under very user-friendly conditions.
