Tunisia’s talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have “made good progress” , IMF mission chief for Tunisia Chris Geiregat said at the end of a virtual visit from February 14 to 23, 2022.
«We have made good progress and we will continue consultations in the weeks ahead to consider the prospect for possible financial support from the IMF,» the fund said in a statement.
«The IMF will remain, as it was, in close contact with the authorities to support Tunisia and its people,» he was quoted as saying in a statement published by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).
The IMF experts thanked the Tunisian authorities for the fruitful discussions and for their «excellent cooperation,» according the same source.
The technical discussions between a delegation of the IMF and technical teams from all ministerial departments initiated on February 14 were completed on February 22, Minister of Finance Sihem Namsia said Wednesday.
