Tunisia-Indonesia: progress in talks to strike preferential trade deal looked at

Progress in talks with Indonesia to strike a preferential trade deal took centre stage as Minister of Trade and Export Development Kalthoum Ben Rjeb met with ambassador Zuhairi Al-Masrawy. The agreement is designed to step up partnership and develop trade which did not surpass the $130 million mark in 2021, the ministry Saturday said in a press release. Cooperation was also discussed. Al-Masrawy said his country eyes increased imports from Tunisia, mainly olive oil and dates, and commended their positioning in international markets and quality. Jakarta, he further said, is keen to further ease procedures to encourage Tunisian operators to export and invest in the country considering the long-standing relations. An invitation was extended to Indonesia to take part in the Halal Expo Trade Fair set for May 31-June 4 in Tunis.
