Tunisia, Monaco ink framework cooperation agreement

A framework cooperation agreement which amends and supplements the agreement inked May 6, 2008, by Tunisia and the Principality of Monaco was signed Thursday in Tunis by Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Gilles Tonelli.

Several projects in priority sectors geared towards achieving development goals across the country, particularly in areas of high priority, will be carried out as part of this accord, said Jhinaoui at the end of a working session at the seat of the ministry.

These projects mainly encompass oasis development, health, environment protection, sustainable development and education, the FM said. They seek to enhance job opportunities in Kasserine as well as in southern and northeastern regions.

“We target vocational integration and education in Tunisia, one of the ten countries we support,” says Tonelli. A balance between jobs and Tunisian youths’ aspirations is the goal.

Further interest will be lent to the improvement of the urgent healthcare system through the creation of SAMUsocial under the aegis of SAMUsocial international, he furthere said.

The two ministers co-chaired the opening session of the Tunisia-Monaco Commission. Means to strengthen political relations were discussed; the two sides agreed to hold regular consultations on regional and international issues of common interest.
